This plugin adds support for printing circuit data captured in a schematic sheet. This includes
Page Setup,
Print and
Print Preview via the Schematic Editor's main
File menu, and the ability to add a Schematic Print output in the Documentation Outputs section of an Output Job file.
In terms of what can be printed – the print scope if you will – this can be:
- The active/nominated schematic document.
- All schematic documents in the active project.
For an Output Generator, you can also elect to print the "Project Physical Documents" – whereby the logical schematic sheets are expanded to physical sheets, including the physical board designators. In essence, this allows you to print the physical design (as displayed across the Compiled tabbed views in the Schematic Editor). This contrasts with printing directly from the Schematic Editor, whereby you can only print the logical design schematics (as displayed on the Editor tabbed view).
Advanced print properties – accessible as part of Page Setup, or from the Output Generator in the Output Job file – allow you to:
- Specify whether or not to include No-ERC Marker, Parameter Sets, Probes, and Blankets on the prints.
- Specify whether to print the entire sheet or a specific area (when printing the active sheet or using an output generator with a single schematic as its source).
- Specify Physical Name Expansion options (when using an output generator with [Project Physical Documents] as its source).
When generating prints of this type from an Output Job file, you can either:
- Send the output directly to a desired printer, by connecting the output to the required Hard Copy Job, or
- Create a PDF document, by connecting the output to the required PDF-based Output Container.
Installation of this plugin also provides an entry as part of a project's Default Prints settings. This allows you to nominate that prints of this type (Schematic Prints) always be printed when using the direct print commands from within the Schematic Editor.
Note: As the OpenBus Editor is built on the familiar foundations of the Schematic Editor, installation of this plugin will also result (and indeed require) in the installation of the
Printer – OpenBus Document plugin, and vice-versa.
